Fayetteville Policies and Procedures 312.1
Implementation of the 1500 Hour Rule for Extra Help Employees
Arkansas Code Annotated §6-63-314 imposes the following restriction:
Extra help restrictions
No employee of an institution of higher education who is employed as extra help may
be employed for a period of time to exceed fifteen hundred (1500) hours per year.
For purposes of implementation and enforcement, the Fayetteville campus of the University of Arkansas will track hours worked in a fiscal year by extra help employees paid through the Fayetteville Fund. The department will be notified of the number of hours worked before the 1500 hour limit is reached, and the employee will be asked to sign a letter of termination upon reaching the 1500 hour limit.
