Timely Warnings
In the event a situation arises, either on or off campus, that in the judgment of the chief of police, University of Arkansas Police Department, that constitutes an ongoing or continuing threat to safety of persons or property, a campus wide "timely warning" will be issued. The dean of students or designee and the director of news and editorial communications in university relations or designee should review the warning before it is released. However, if the dean of students or designee or director of news and editorial communications in university relations or designee is unavailable, then the chief of police or designee may issue the warning without such review if he or she deems the circumstances present an immediate threat to the university community.
The warning will be issued through the university email system to students, faculty and staff. It also will be released to the uark homepage, area media via university relations, and posted on the Web site of the University of Arkansas Police Department.
In addition, decided on a case-by-case basis depending on the particular circumstances of the crime, bulletins may be posted at appropriate locations around campus including bulletin boards, electronic bulletin boards, residence halls, entrances to buildings and other available electronic media.
Timely warnings will contain information that promotes safety and allows individuals to protect themselves, and will contain the time, location and type of crime.
Anyone with information warranting a timely warning should report the circumstances to the University of Arkansas Police Department at 479-575-2222. Call extension 5-2222 if on campus.
