Student or Student's Spouse Called into Military Service -- Accommodation for Remote Course Delivery
When a student, or a student’s spouse with dependent children in the home, is activated for military service (see Academic Policy 1520.40 for definitions), the student may continue participating in courses remotely or through other alternative means during the semester of their activation in face-to-face or campus mixed-mode courses upon approval of each instructor, department head/chair, dean, and the Provost’s Office. Approval by the Provost’s office will be, in part, contingent upon the University’s compliance with distance education regulations regarding the location of where the student would be completing the courses.
A student in online or online mixed-mode courses may also continue in those courses during the semester of their activation with approval of the instructor, department head/chair, dean, and Provost’s Office. Approval by the Provost’s office will be, in part, contingent upon the University’s compliance with distance education regulations regarding the location of where the student would be completing the courses.
If a student wishes to continue to participate remotely or through other alternative means beyond the semester of activation, additional approval will be required. A student or student’s spouse activated for military service who chooses not to continue or is not approved to participate in courses remotely may receive compensation for the resulting monetary loss.
